Variety – The Children’s Charity of Iowa - Telethon
Michael Danso joins the International cast of Variety The Children’s Charity of Iowa Telethon for his16th yearly appearance in Iowa to raise money for disabled children.
Founded in 1937. Since the inception of the telethon, in 1975, the club has raised more than $60 million through its annual telethon and other fundraisers. Through the generous support of individuals and the corporate community, Variety has provided funding for capital projects, essential medical equipment and special programs to more than 300 charities throughout Iowa and neighboring states. In addition, over 260 Sunshine Coaches are transporting kids across the state.
Variety - The Children’s Charity is proud to support thousands of child related organizations and individual children in need Funds are raised through special events, public donations and corporate sponsorships. All funds raised help local children in need. Support is given to those individuals, groups, institutions and agencies considered to best serve Variety's children in need.
Young Variety (YV) is subcommittee of Variety comprised of energized twenty and thirty-somethings living in Central Iowa. We are bound by a shared commitment to making sure that every child in Iowa has a chance to succeed.Over the past 20 years, YV members have been working hard and having fun. But, more importantly they have been having a huge impact on the lives of children in our community.
The Sunshine Coach Program gives Variety Children the chance to experience new adventures and explore a bigger, better world. Throughout Iowa and Illinois, more than 260 Sunshine Coaches – many equipped with lifts to accommodate kids in wheelchairs – transport children to facilities and hospitals where they receive necessary medical attention. The coaches also give kids the opportunity to enjoy field trips and recreational outings. There are too many programs which Variety - The Childrens Charity of Iowa has put into place to help all children from all walks of life who need that friendly hand to support their efforts towards living a fulfilled and happy existence, to mention here.
Below, see information to make yourself familiar with a wonderful Organization and people with whom I consider it a privilege to a part of. Call in and make a pledge, and you can be sure that it will definitely go to the Children of Variety.

POSTPONED - SCHEDULE CHANGE FOR LIVEART EXHIBITION EVENT - STAY TUNED..md
Michael Danso will be appearing at Eurogallery Live Art 's Opening Event of Internationally renowned Artist Manfred Honig 's new Painting related to Jazz and titled " FROM HARLEM TO HOLLYWOOD." This will be the first of a Series of paintings entitled "Musik" to be presented by EuroGallery LiveArt executed by various Artists. Michael will perform excerpts from his Critically Acclaimed Symphonic Jazz Productions of WHITE TIE AND TAILS and FROM HARLEM TO HOLLYWOOD.
This first of a Series of 12 in this new series of paintings based on theme of Music, will be sponsored by and presented at the beautiful Karwellendorf Casino Hotel in Austria. The painting, FROM HARLEM TO HOLLYWOOD is being done in collaboration with Jazz Vocalist Michael Danso. Ideas by Karin and Wolfgang Saddey,Artist Manfred Hönig.
Eurogallery Live Art sponsors Realistic & Surrealistic international working artists. Artists Joachim Lehrer (Germany)- Manfred Hönig (Germany)- Ines Scheppach (Germany)- Norbert Sauer (Germany)- Di Vogo (Yugoslavia)- Siegfried Zademack (Germany)- Thor Lindeneg (Denmark)- Kris Kuksi (Canada)- Bruno Logan (France)- Manuel Lunardi (Austria)- have been sponsored by Eurogallery Live Art through the innovative "Live Art Plasma Exhibition" concept that has been universally applauded and accepted throughout the world.
Live Art creates an alliance of traditional art and the new technology with the creation of a work of art seen day by day as it is created. An artists page on the Eurogallery Live Art site, with daily uploads by the artist of the picture and a commentary allows the viewing public to see "behind the scenes" images of the creation of a masterwork as it happens!
Live Art is a rare opportunity to give an in-depth view into the creativity of the artist and his techniques, to bring to life the work of the artist. It is difficult for an Artist to find a gallery to sell, exhibit, set up, and attend an expo. Costs can be prohibitive and one usually finds their work ‘diluted’ by a mass of other exhibitors. Gallery exhibitions only cover a small area. With "Plasma Exhibitions," Art is seen in several places at once -Internationally - to a knowledgeable International audience who admire art and are in the market to aquire it.
Eurogallery LiveArt Expos run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 2 weeks-or longer with the possibility of additional showings afterwards at Eurogallery LiveArt 's other prestigious locations. It is possible to also make available to the public the original artworks for sale as well as a limited number of lithograph copies of certain works, created by Eurogallery. This exposes the work to an even wider audience, even after the original is sold.
This is a unique opportunity to get artworks presented to a buying audience, in an International setting. A numerous cultured international audience, High definition giant plasma screen, Exclusive high class location,No transportation costs,No possible damage to originals,No need for costly insurance, No travel/living expenses and One price -3 exhibitions per year are only some of the benefits resulting from this acclaimed concept.

All members are extremely grateful to the Grand Order of Water Rats, for their kindness in allowing us to use some of the following extracts (***)taken from the history of the G.O.W.R. l889-l947, written by P.K. Rat Fred Russell, on how the G.O.L.R. first started:
It all began with a group of Music Hall Stars in 1899 when The Water Rats were born ( go to http://www.blogger.com/www.eabf.org.uk/gowr.htm for history ) Over the past century the Club progressed to become " The Grand Order of Water Rats," its charitable record unsurpassed in the world of Entertainment. Membership currently stands at 180 and has never been more than 200.To belong to such an exclusive Fraternity is therefore a much-prized honour for performers.
Current membership includes some of the biggest star names in Britain and Hollywood. Others are as widely dispersed as Australia, Africa and Spain.
(***)"Of other events and happenings since the re-organisation of the Grand Order of Water Rats, one of the most important was the formation of the Lady Ratlings. In June 1929 Charlie Austin gave a banquet at the Grand Order of Water Rats Club, his guests including wives, daughters and other female relatives of the members. At that banquet the idea of the ladies section of the order was mooted, and taken up with much enthusiasm. Names and subscriptions came pouring in, and from the outset success was assured. The growth of the Grand Order of Lady Ratlings has been remarkable. Together they abide by their motto "ONE FOR ALL AND ALL FOR ONE."

PILGRIM’S PROGRESS: the musical SYNOPSIS: Playwright/composer/lyricist
Suzanne Rutherford has completely reworked this classic story into a rock
musical with the accessibility of "Joseph," the dramatic power of "Les
Miserables", and the sharply focused humour of "This Hour Has 22 Minutes."
This scathing satire of contemporary society informed by John Bunyan’s
famous allegory creates a unique, daring new work of astonishing range and
power that is totally relevant to the current day struggle to find spiritual
meaning in a leaderless, violent world.
